Increase Your Awareness and Learn to Move Better With the Feldenkrais Method

We cannot change what we are not aware of, and once we are aware, we cannot help but change.—Sheryl Sandberg, Author

The brain is amazing. At every moment, we are making the best decisions we can given our history, genetics, and the information we have. However, we would like to improve. To make better decisions, we need better information. When it comes to improving movement and reducing pain, this means becoming aware of the subtle details of our movements.

I had hoped to feel a little better, but, remarkably, after just a few sessions my neck pain went away.See Kathy's Success Story

As an example of working with pain, consider Kathy. Like many of my clients who struggle with neck pain, she turned her head without much thought or awareness. By using the Feldenkrais Method, we significantly increased her awareness of how her spine, shoulders, pelvis, and her legs could assist her in turning her head. By distributing the work across her entire body, we reduced the strain on her neck and her pain subsided.

My goal is to help heighten your awareness — to help you sense your movement patterns, and then to find alternative choices. In the lingo of neuroscience, this is called neuroplasticity and neuromuscular retraining. But, I think of it simply as our innate ability to learn.

Utilizing the principles of the Feldenkrais Method, I employ various approaches to facilitate your learning:

  • Slowing Down: By utilizing slow movements, we attune to the fine details, uncover hidden patterns, and discover new possibilities.
  • Embracing Variety: By exploring similar but different movements, we gain insights into what options feel more comfortable and effortless for you.
  • Guided Touch: Through gentle, non-intrusive touch, I will lead you through precise and mindful movements, deepening your connection to your body's sensations, tensions, and movement patterns.
  • Non-judgmental Observation: Together, we observe your movements without judgment or criticism, creating a safe space for you to explore and express yourself fully.
  • Cultivating Curiosity: Curiosity plays a crucial role in promoting awareness and learning. Together we embrace curiosity and embark on a journey of exploration and understanding.

By becoming more aware of your movement patterns, you'll gain the power to make different and better choices. These choices pave the way to reduced pain and greater comfort in your daily life.

The key to the Feldenkrais Method is learning. But learning can only flourish in an atmosphere of safety, curiosity, and engagement. In our collaborative sessions you'll experience a deep sense of caring and a supportive space for you to grow at your own pace.

Your journey of self-discovery begins by scheduling a free 55-minute, in-person consultation.

Integrate Mind and Body: Embrace Holistic Well-Being with the Feldenkrais Method

I believe that the unity of mind and body is an objective reality. They are not just parts somehow related to each other, but an inseparable whole while functioning.—Moshé Feldenkrais

At the heart of the Feldenkrais Method lies the recognition that you are not merely a sum of separate parts but an interconnected and unified whole. Together, we will delve into the art of mindful movement and exploration to uncover the vast potential within you.

The Feldenkrais Method is more than a therapy; it's an exploration of self-awareness and a reconnection with your body.

I feel taller, more self-confident, stronger, and more able to meet whatever is happening at the moment.Mary Bolton
